Board update - 2014-11-07

PCA Board of Directors | 2014-11-07

November 7, 2014.

Dear Parents,

As mentioned at Parent Information Night, PCA is in the process of updating its vision and mission statements.  We are now ready to share both with you.

For some of you who have been with PCA for more than 3 years, you will remember PCA has gone through some challenges between 2007 and 2011 in order to re-establish the ministry under a PCA parent/alumni board and a new location.  As we reflect on this recent history, one may ask, “God, what is your will for PCA?”  This is the question for which the PCA board has been seeking God’s answer.  After much prayer and deliberation, the PCA board has established the following vision statement:

“Peoples Christian Academy is a missional school where children are trained in Christ’s ways in order to be placed by Him in their respective fields to defend Christian truth and values, serving His purpose for His glory.”

We believe God is pleased to see that His children are trained according to His words and are placed by Him into different areas in society, to live up to and defend Christian truth and values.  In a world with challenges and conflicts, it is ever more important for Christians to share God’s peace and love, pointing to the exclusivity of Christ as the only way to God.

Our new vision statement seeks to build on PCA’s history as a “preparing and sending” institution of learning. We wish to heighten the students’ consciousness of the brokenness of our world and the remedy that is in Christ alone. In the future, when our students study art, they will look for ways to use their skills to glorify God.  When they study business, they will pursue the establishing of fair and honest business practices, and more.  When they study law, they will uphold biblical justice and righteousness, and seek to assist the oppressed. We believe PCA is placed strategically in a challenging time in one of the most multi-cultural societies in the world.  Our alumni will serve Christ by serving locally and globally, making a difference in the world for Christ.  So, here is our mission statement:

“PCA is committed to preparing the whole person to reach the whole world for Christ.”

May God continue to lead us to fulfill His will at PCA.  Amen.

Board update - 2014-10-10

PCA Board of Directors | 2014-10-10
Dear PCA parents,

At this time of the year, we reflect on the blessings we have received in our lives. At PCA, we are very thankful to all of you who have entrusted your children to us to bring them up according to God’s values and truth.

We are also very thankful for the architectural firm and the construction company who worked very hard during the summer to have the four new classrooms completed. The quality that went in, such as soundproofing, is amazing. We also would like to express our sincere thanks to the PCA team who worked tirelessly during the last two weeks of August to outfit  these classrooms and make improvements in and around the property. Throughout the summer, we have received about $83,000 in donations for the classrooms including a gift from a retired teacher of $75,000.  We thank God for these donors who partner with us to raise up the next generation for Christ.

Lastly, we would like to thank all of our teachers and staff team who continue to put out their best to teach and inspire the students. Many of them devote a lot of time within and outside the classroom to coach and to advise students, not only academically, but also spiritually. They certainly are a blessing to all of us.

We are so thankful to God and to all the brothers and sisters who have sacrificially given to the Building and the General Funds. Below are some numbers we want you to be aware of.  We have been keeping the tuition at a level to make Christian education more accessible. Our staff team have not received a salary increase in the past five years other than inflation adjustments.  If you would like to support PCA, please pick up a donation envelope from the office, go to pca.ca to donate online or text PCA to (437) 800-2722 and follow the link. This is a local text line.

                     Need                                       Donation Received
Four classrooms and special maintenance  $360,000  $82,800
General Fund                                               $200,000  $6,100 (since Sept 2014)

May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving.

In His Service,

Benevolent Fund

Board of Directors | 2013-10-08

Benevolent Fund

Executive Summary:  The faculty and staff of Peoples Christian Academy are paid according to a salary grid that places them comparatively at a level considerably below current market values for their chosen profession. It is safe to say that, as a rule, they serve the purposes and goals of PCA at some level of personal sacrifice. From time to time circumstances arise which place them in a situation of material need. Further, it is acknowledged that from time to time there are families within the PCA Community who encounter crisis situations and need special assistance.  The PCA Benevolent Fund is designed to assist the faculty and staff, as well as PCA families,at such times of financial need. Such a fund is in keeping with the broad goals of Peoples Christian Academy (PCA) Inc. as a Christian charity.

Purpose:  To assist families within the PCA Community, for a limited period of time, when they find themselves in a situation of financial need through circumstances beyond their control.

Source: The fund will be supported by free-will donations solicited primarily from among the community.

Administration: The fund will be administered by a panel consisting of the Director of Operations and Ministry, a second member of the PCA admin team and one representative from the Board of Directors.

Criteria:  Eligibility to receive assistance from the  PCA Benevolent Fund will be based on the following criteria:

  1. The family/individual is a member of the PCA community (staff, faculty, student, alumni).
  2. Financial information from the family is disclosed to the Benevolent Fund administration panel.
  3. An individual cash award from the fund shall not exceed $5000 unless approved by the Board of Directors.
  4. There will be no expectation of repayment of funds.  Any attempt on the part of the recipient to compensate for the assistance received will be regarded as a charitable donation to PCA.

Message from Mr. Philip

PCA | 2013-07-12
Dear PCA community

I have been overwhelmed with love, support, concern and prayers.  I am so very glad for each of you individually and corporately.

It was almost three weeks ago now that I was at the mall with Samuel (4) and Esther (2) when I experienced a seizure while in the parking lot.  I awoke in an ambulance as I was being taken to Markham Stouffville Hospital.  Here a tumour was discovered on the right side of my brain.  I was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital where I was attended to by a brilliant team of professionals.

I underwent an "awake craniotomy" - brain surgery while fully conscious.  It was surreal. I recited Psalm 91, 46 and The Sermon on the Mount for almost 4 hours.  Thank you PCA for making me memorize Scripture!  During the craniotomy surgeons removed 4 sections of the tumour to biopsy.  The first three sections returned inconclusive.  Yesterday, I received the results of the 4th section.  It is grade 2 with some characteristics of grade 3.  (There are 4 grades of tumour with the fourth being the most aggressive).

Presently, I am scheduled to begin 30 days of radiation starting on July 22.  Next week I will find out if I will also be adding chemotherapy to my regimen.

Through this entire experience I have felt nothing but gladness and gratitude.  I have been carried by the love of so many people and my spirit has been lifted by the prayers of God's people.  Tonight's prayer meeting at PCA was one of the richest and most tangible expressions of support that I have enjoyed.  It was good to be with my school family and to be the recipient of your prayers for me and my family.

Finally, while it is true that I have a brain tumour it is truer still that I have a Saviour.  I want to be defined by the latter in light of the former.  All Praise to the triune God who still holds full control of my life.

With love,
Alex Philip

The following news article alerts us to the need to become actively involved in the efforts to prevent this bill from passing in the Ontario legislature.  Please contact the premier's office and your MPP to inform them of your objection to its passing.

BY Patrick B. Craine

TORONTO, Ontario, May 2, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - After a weekend protest
outside his constituency office over the government's controversial
"anti-bullying" legislation, Liberal House Leader John Milloy moved Tuesday
to fast track the bill so it will pass by the summer.

Angered over the Tories' efforts to filibuster debate on the bill, which has
sparked a huge backlash by parents and religious leaders over concerns that
it threatens parental rights and religious freedom, Milloy invoked a time
allocation order to push the bill into committee after only 40 minutes
debate from each party.

The bill could move to committee as quickly as next week and face a final
vote by the end of May.

Both the Opposition Progressive Conservatives and the New Democratic Party
are upset over the rare move.

"This is anti-democratic at its core. We never support time allocation,"
New Democrat MPP Cheri DiNovo told Xtra.

The Tories have been promoting their own anti-bullying bill, Bill 14, that
does not include Bill 13's focus on homosexuality. According to Xtra, the
Tories and the NDP had been working out a compromise before the Liberals
decided to push their bill through.

Premier Dalton McGuinty told Xtra the move is simply about "ensuring we can
move ahead with the bill."

"Otherwise, the bell ringing will go on forever. This is something the
government is called upon to use from time to time. We want to move ahead
with the bill and this is the way to get it done," he explained.

But pro-family activist Jack Fonseca of Campaign Life Coalition says
McGuinty is "fast tracking the bill due to the uprising of parents breaking
out across Ontario."

"He hopes to cut it off by passing the bill quickly before the uprising
grows," said Fonseca, adding that "McGuinty is showing his true colors with
this undemocratic move."

"Parents and supporters ought to flood Dalton McGuinty with a firestorm of
complaints, contact their local MPP, and spread the word to everybody they
know," he said.

Dear PCA parents, staff, students, alumni and friends,

By now you may have heard of Bill 13, Accepting Schools Act, 2012.  This Bill was introduced by the Government of Ontario last November, in the name of diversity and equity.  If the Bill is passed, it may lead to the formation of Gay-Straight-Alliance clubs in schools, give aggressive sex education to very young children and require school students to take part in gay pride parade.  It will have profound negative impact to the children.

PAC | 2012-02-29
Feb 29, 2012

Dear parents,

The following testimony really explains why we love PCA:

“After allowing our two boys to be educated in a private school for ten years, my husband and I reached a conclusion that we needed to take them out and enrolled them into a reputable Christian School. We chose PCA.  The reasons are, Sunday school at Church cannot provide enough teachings of God’s word, and more importantly Christian value is not taught in non-Christian private school.

Our children were just average students. However, my eldest son told me how different it was when he first entered the classroom of PCA.  Students respect their teachers, the teachers genuinely care about the students, and the learning atmosphere is very encouraging.  This changed my boy’s learning attitude too. Soon he became more focus and with the help from all the wonderful teachers, he gradually excelled.  He graduated with honor degree and a $2,000.00 scholarship from his dream university. What else can I say but thank you PCA!”

With March Break just around the corner, we would like to draw your attention to the following events:

1.      PCA Senior Mission Trip to Calcutta
We are so fortunate that our children are nurtured both academically and spiritually. Now they will put their faith to work. These days, how many youths are willing to step out of their comfort zone and visit the parts of the world that are desperate for the Good News. To see our students sowing the seeds, please visit the following website:  http://www.pcamissions.blogspot.com/

2.      March Break Camp
Are you still scratching your head and cannot decide what to do this holiday? Please call Mrs. Sinko at 416.733.2010 ext 115 for space availability of the March Break Camp at 245 Renfrew. You can also download the camp brochure at PCA 2012 March Break Camp.

3.    Parenting Seminars
Toronto Chinese Christian Parenting Association will be having four evenings of parenting workshop during the Teens Conference in March Break at the Richmond Hill Christian Community Church. This is in partnership with the Ambassador of Christ. The workshops are free and open to all parents. Please see attached flyer for more information.

On Feb 23, the High School Parent Night was held and over 50 participants attended. We want to thank Mr. Broomer and Mrs. Lee for their precious time. Due to the good response and demand for regular communications between the school administration and parents, we will be looking into organizing similar functions on a regular basis.

Have you submitted your registration package yet? As a reminder, registration is now open to new students. So don’t delay your action any further. Spaces are limited for each grade. Let’s all support the school that we love, so that our children will grow “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52).

Lastly, congratulations to Stanley Chau, Christina Lam, and Simon Yuen for being re-elected to the board for another term. We want to thank the entire board, which has shown so much faith and dedication to the relocation of PCA, and to the school administration, teachers and staff for their passion and devotion to Christian education that have truly impacted our children’s lives. However, the journey does not end here. A new page has just begun. There are still a lot of challenges ahead of us.  Please continue to show support and pray for these “great and faithful servant”.

HS Report Card Letter 2012-02

David Broomer | 2012-02-10
February 10, 2012

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is with gratitude, I thank the Lord for His many blessings in and around the school. I am pleased as I observe students attending to their studies and working together to achieve their best. This not only happens in the classroom, but through a myriad of activities including worship teams, Reach for the Top, Pro-Life Club, drama, and all of our sports teams that continue to excel.

Reports Cards
Please find enclosed your child’s report card for Term 2 (non-semester courses) and Semester 1 (final marks for semester courses). The semester 1 courses are now complete and new courses have started. In talking with a number of students, the blended schedule of semester and non-semester courses seems to have had a positive effect on the requirements for the students. It has “freed” up time, for both the students and teachers to focus on less subjects at a given time.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Grade 7/8
Except for a few courses, the Grade 7/8 program does run on a non-semester basis. Although this set of interviews is open to all families, I would especially encourage parents/guardians of a child who is struggling to book an appointment to see a particular teacher. If your child is doing well, it may not be necessary for you to see the subject teacher.

Grade 9-12
The interviews are for the non-semester courses only. If you would like to speak to a teacher regarding a semester 1 course it would be best to set up another time with that particular teacher. Every teacher’s e-mail is first initial followed by last name@pca.ca

Important Notice for Booking Interviews
Many of you would know that Mrs. Broomer is working in the office on a part-time basis. As the office can become quite busy, she will be taking interview requests by e-mail only. Her e-mail is sbroomer@pca.ca. In your e-mail please ensure you provide:
  • Your name
  • Child’s name
  • Grade
  • Course(s)
  • Teacher(s)
The scheduled interviews are only for the non-semester courses and therefore the number of interview timeslots is limited. Interviews will be conducted in a 2 hour time period on Thursday, February 16. In the event there are a greater number of requests we will lengthen the period of time. Parents of students who are doing very well may not need to come and see the teacher, but are welcome to do so. Remember, to book an appointment time, please e-mail, as this is the only means of doing so.

Appointment times: 10 minute intervals
Thursday, February 16: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Important Reminder

PCA HS Parent Night
Update from the Principal and Guidance Counselor including Q & A session Date: Feb 23, 2012 (Thursday)
Venue: Room 300 (Door# 4)
Time: 7:30pm (refreshments start at 6:30 pm)

Important Note
Students have been notified that they are not to cross our neighbour’s property, but are to use the sidewalk along Renfrew Dr. Some students are ignoring this directive and are going around behind the buildings. I have received another complaint in this matter and will deal strongly with any student who chooses to continue this practice. I am expecting students to respect our neighbours in this matter. We have made several recent announcements so students have been made well aware of this issue.

Re-registration
Though the registration date was January 20 there are families we have not heard from. In order that we may plan more effectively, please let us know your intent for next year. A quick e-mail confirming your desire to come back, or if not, letting us know the reason behind your decision would be greatly appreciated (you may e-mail me on this matter). Thank you.

Illness
Recently there has been a rash of illness at the school. If your child is ill, please for the sake of the rest of the student body and staff, keep them home until they have recovered. Thank you for your consideration in this health related matter.

Calendar Highlights
  • Re-registration: now
  • Parent/Teacher Interviews: Feb. 16
  • PCA HS Parent Night: Feb. 23
  • Math Contest (Grades 9-11): Feb. 23
  • India Mission Trip: Mar. 2 – Mar. 15

May the Lord richly bless you as you continue to support PCA.

Blog: The Difference is the Word

Rev. Reg Andrews | 2011-12-01
Those who know me would no doubt suggest that the initial entries of this blog are written with uncharacteristic candour. I have to agree, but remain insistent on the need to face up to the calamitous loss of our youth away from the church and the ways of God.

More on Christian schooling....

Blog: In Praise of the Greenhouse

Reg Andrews | 2011-11-25
Perhaps the leading argument (among Christians) against Christian schooling is that of the non-desirability of the “greenhouse effect”.  It suggests that it is wrong to protect children from the “real” world (of the public school system).

HS-News-October-20

David Broomer | 2011-10-31

October 20, 2011

Dear Parents/Guardian,

It is with great thanksgiving that I write this letter. It has been a remarkable journey since we began this school year on September 12. I am so pleased and proud of the staff and students as we have settled in and conducted classes in an excellent manner. There is still some tweaking to do and expectations that will need to be carried out by the students. I would ask that you read this letter carefully and encourage your child to follow through on the necessary items.

Thank you for your support in these matters.

Communication
It is imperative that staff hear from families if there is a matter of concern. The proper procedure is to approach the staff member who can best help in the matter. If it is subject related please speak to the teacher. Matthew 18 speaks to this procedure. Issues regarding more general school matters or policies should be directed to my office. School personnel simply cannot be aware of every matter unless they receive information. Talking to those who cannot affect change only creates frustration and ultimately leads to rumours. E-mail is an effective way of an initial communication to a staff member. Every staff member has a PCA e-mail account. You can reach individuals by their first initial followed by their last name @pca.ca

I believe that open and honest dialogue solves 95% of the problems at the first level. We cannot help, if we do not know. We cannot give an answer, if we do not know the question. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Punctuality
I am targeting a 100% goal for the students to be in class on time. There is an 8:20 am bell, which is a warning bell that students have 5 minutes to be in class. At the 8:25 am bell (and the playing of O Canada) students who are not in class are considered late. For those students who are late they are to stop whatever their activity and stand appropriately for our National Anthem and for announcements/devotions. Once completed, students are to go to the office for a late slip. On occasion there will be a sign posted at the office indicating students will need to report to a specific room due to their lateness. This will be done on a random basis. There are many reasons to be punctual. From a classroom setting it can be quite disruptive (regardless of how respectful a student enters the room) as 2 or 3 students arrive late at different times. Those who will need to report to the room will inevitably miss a portion of the lesson and therefore the importance of being on time. I believe there has been sufficient time for families to adjust to travelling to our new location.

Uniforms
Grace, grace, grace... The time is up! There will now be a record kept of students not in proper uniform; including those who are not wearing it correctly (boys take note of the new requirement for shirts to be tucked in). For the majority of students they are complying, so those individuals do not need to be anxious; I encourage them to keep doing what they have done since the beginning of the year. Discipline letters will now be going home regarding the chronic offenders.

Dates to Remember
  • Tuesday, October 25 Picture Day (students need to be in proper uniform)
  • Saturday, October 29 40th Anniversary Banquet
  • Sunday, October 30 Official Opening of the new facility
  • Friday, November 11 Remembrance Day Ceremony – students and staff will be going to the Ontario Legislature (details to follow)
  • Friday, November 25 Parent/Teacher Interviews
Sports
Every autumn the Sr. Boys’ Volleyball team hit the floor of the gymnasium with excitement in preparation for their quick starting season. With their great confidence and cohesiveness on the court, the boys already have a record of 5 wins against 1 loss thus far in the season. Their encouragement to one another and great sportsmanship has been a great witness to the other schools in our league and is also a testimony of the great school in which we are all a part of. The final tournament will be held on November 30th at Toronto Waldorf School, family and friends are all welcome to come out and cheer them on!

If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

D. Broomer

October 27, 2011

I trust that you received my letter of last week. High school students can be notorious for not taking information home or not bringing information back to the school. Perhaps this letter will make its way home as it does involve food.

Lunch Program
The long awaited lunch program is going to begin the week of November 7. Please find attached the necessary form for ordering lunches for the month. The cafeteria will be again run by Mr. Chu, but the meals are prepared off-site as the cafeteria is not yet fully equipped and thus the reason for order forms. Forms will not be accepted after the deadline as there is much more planning involved for this year. Payment must be made by cheque only and is payable to PCA (please this is all you need). For November the forms will be due no later than Monday, October 31.

World Vision
As you are probably aware, PCA has been associated with World Vision primarily through the 30-hour famine program. I met with the representative yesterday to find out that PCA was in the top three schools in raising funds through the program! What is really impressive is the fact there were 150 schools in the comparison! What a great job our students and families did last year. We are looking to continue this tradition this year.

PD Days
The staff will be joining other Christian teachers next Thursday and Friday for a conference in Brampton. Please be reminded that there will be no school on November 3rd and 4th.

In His service,

D. Broomer
Principal
High School

PS - If you have any up-dates (e-mail, new phone number or address), please inform the office.

PCA to relocate to Markham!

PCA Board of Directors | 2011-03-25
March 25, 2011

Dear PCA families, staff, alumni and friends,

PCA is excited to announce the formation of 245 Renfrew Corporation, an entity formed by people who are committed to raising funds to renovate the new school site at 245 Renfrew Drive for the successful relocation of PCA.  To date, God has provided approximately $2.2 million to cover the renovation cost of the High School.

By the grace of God, 245 Renfrew Corporation has arranged short term financing to support a substantial portion of the renovation cost of the Elementary School.  Good progress has been made with respect to long-term financing also.  The fund raising process will continue to provide for the renovation of the remainder of the property.

Based on the positive indication from the various funding sources, 245 Renfrew Corporation has committed to expand the scope of phase 1 renovation to include space for both the Elementary School and the High School.  Berkim Construction will complete the renovation of the school to commence operation at the new site by September 2011.

Thank you all for your prayers and support to PCA.  May God receive all the glory and continue to lead PCA as it turns a new chapter in its history.

In His Service,

The Board of Directors

Board Update Feb 1, 2011

PCA Board | 2011-02-01
Praise the Lord.  We thank Him for providing people who have contributed sufficient funding to build the High School at 245 Renfrew.  We have the High School confirmed at its new home for the 2011/2012 school year.  There is also a strong sentiment to relocate the Elementary School to Renfrew as quickly as possible.  We have developed a building plan that can get both schools there sooner.  With this updated plan, just another $1.3MM will enable us to relocate the Elementary School to Renfrew too.

Sept. 13/10 OMB Update & Prayers

PCA Board | 2010-09-13
For those who might have missed the last communication on Aug 18, OMB has ruled in favour of PCA and has allowed PCA to use 245 Renfrew as a private school and day care. We are currently processing all the necessary final formalities with the Town of Markham prior to starting renovation.

Since the OMB zoning decision, we have been actively discussing our needs with potential financiers who have shown interest in PCA’s relocation project.  At this point we are still targeting to move the school by September 2011.  The date and the move strategy depend on the financing arrangement and its timing.

Please keep praying so that a plan can be finalized very soon.

Call for Directors 2010

The Nominating Committee | 2010-09-13
Call for Directors

The PCA Board would like to open the call for directors from September 13, 2010 to October 10, 2010.  This year, two (2) Parent Directors from the Parent Members and one (1) Alumni Director from the Alumni Members are to be elected.  The election of directors will be finalized in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held in November 2010.

This coming year is a year of building: building our faith in the Lord together, building our care for the PCA families, and building the new site for the school.  The Lord encouraged Zerubbabel to build the Temple with these words:

‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6)

Hearing for the Dismissal of Appeal Update

Board Of Directors | 2010-02-27
Update on the "Hearing for the Dismissal of Appeal"...

PAC News 10.02.26

Parent Advisory Committee | 2010-02-27
Dear parents,

Thanks to all the parents who attended the prayer meeting last Fridayand today. God always answers our prayers in His time. Let's keep thisin our daily prayer that this rezoning issue can be resolved as soon aspossible.

Below is another sincere sharing from a parent.

Testimony
My 2 children have been attending PCA their whole lives. My son graduated two years ago and is now at University of Western Ontario. Most of his friends went to Western as well. I'm so happy to see this young group of people supporting each other, both academically and spiritually. I am very happy how my children turned out. I believe the school has a big part for who they have become.  My daughter is now in grade 9, I've never thought of pulling her out. As a matter of fact, it scared me to think what will happen to my daughter if the school closes down? I know I have peace if she stays at PCA.  So I realize that I have to step up and help the school to keep it going.

There are a lot of us still sitting on the fence. The big question is,HOW DO WE GET THE SCHOOL UP AND RUNNING? But don't we all know the answer? Have we been listening to the little voice in our heart? Jesus sacrificed His life for us, how is a little less worldly enjoyment compared to His sufferings?  When we all break for the coming spring holiday, let's all pray for a willingness to commit.  "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Cor 9:6-7

Last week we mentioned $10,000 for We Love PCA Club, this week we want to remind you of the promissory note, which works exactly like a GIC. If we involve the grandparents, each can chip in $2,500 and we can still reach the target of $10,000 per family. They all love their grandchildren, so why don't we invite them to be a part of their education?

So far, the school has raised more than $800,000 with more than 100 individuals involved. Let's all join together and become a part of this legacy, the patrons to this new school.

The PAC had received some responses last week and we are really encouraged by it. Please continue to provide us with feedback and comment at pac (at) pca (dot) ca. We also want to hear from more parents, we welcome any thoughts.  The PAC is here to represent you,and we want all parents' voices be heard.

Did You Know?

The owner of the contractor, Berkim Construction, is actually an alumnus of PCA?  Can we see God's guidance has been with us all along?

In Him,

Parent Advisory Committee

Webmaster | 2010-02-24
Re: Prayer Time During the "Hearing for the Dismiss of Appeal"

This Friday, Feb 26, at 10:00 a.m., the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) has scheduled a hearing to review the motion to dismiss the appeal or allow the appeal to go through regular appeal process for the 245 Renfrew Drive Zoning By-law Amendment.  While our landlord's lawyer will defend the motion for the dismissal on all of our behalf, we need God's mercy to win favour in OMB's eyes.

PCA Responds to Haiti Crisis with $14,600+

Reg Andrews | 2010-02-05
In the wake of the Haiti earthquake disaster our school administrators threw out the challenge to the entire student body to contribute to a PCA Haiti project. The fund would enable Christian workers to offer relief to the many displaced and homeless Haitians. The response was both immediate and overwhelming.  Within a couple of days the fund grew to in excess of $7300.  Coupled with the Canadian Government's dollar-for-dollar matching program, it means that over $14,600 will reach the distressed nation from the students of PCA.

High School Skating Day

Grades 7 to 9 will be skating at Nathan Phillips Square. Grades 10 to 12 will be skating at the Harbourfront Centre rink. These are both outdoor rinks so students should dress appropriately. Skate rentals are available for those without skates.
Please inform the school office if there are any updates to your emergency contact information or student medical issues.
