Dear parents,

Let’s continue with our student’s testimony.

Testimony- Part II
PCA has not only given me a strong foundation in Biblical stories, it has also prepared me to share what I believe with others. In Grade Six, Mr. Smith gave us an assignment which was to memorize a pamphlet titled “Share What You Believe”. This pamphlet was a basic guide to sharing what Christians believe, and a prayer that we could teach to people who wished to become Christians. In various years of my PCA education, I have to write my testimony to help me share my faith with others in a more personal way. Speaking of salvation, when I was in Grade Four, Miss Guy read us the medical description of what Jesus went through when he died on the cross. That was when I really realized how much pain Jesus went through to die for us. I cried. It wasn’t a pleasant experience, but it was a necessary one. We constantly hear, “Jesus died for you”, but do we really understand what price Jesus had paid for our sins? In Grades Ten and Eleven, Mr. Philip taught us about apologetics (how to defend Christianity). This was fascinating for me. This was material I had never been taught at church. It is true that PCA is a much protected environment where our faith isn’t challenged very much. What Mr. Philip taught, if we learned it, will prepare us for the outside world. I have church friends who cannot explain what they believe, much less attempt to defend it. Because of the teaching of all my Bible teachers, I have gained a firm foundation that I will take with me when I leave this year. PCA has incredible teachers … (to be continued).

Recently, the PAC came across this great article by Dr. Randy Douglass, and we want to share this with you. Statistics have shown that 61% who attended church when they were teenagers no longer went back to church when they reached 23. 86% of these church dropouts attended public schools. These are facts that we cannot ignore. Can we as parents do anything to stop this? Yes we can! 1. We have to teach apologetics in school, Church and home. Apologetics means “presenting of Christian evidence and logical arguments or reasons why a person ought to believe in Christ”. 2. Stay away from public schools that are pro evolution, pro abortion and pro homosexuality.  3. Also, choose a Christian school that helps students to answer questions about their faith. Not all Christian schools teach that, but PCA does. For more details on this article, “Closing the Back Door: The Need for Christian Education”, please visit http://www.normangeisler.net/need-for-christian-education.html. Parents, it’s our task to watch out for the spiritual health of our children.

Praise the Lord, we already have 4 prayer warrior teams.  If you can spare half an hour a week to pray for the school, please continue to send your contact info to pac@pca.ca.  “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Gal 6:9-10).
