PCA Information Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,
May I first of all welcome our new parents whose children have recently been registered for September 2011. We’re delighted to have you as part of the Peoples Christian Academy family! Be sure to visit our website, www.pca.ca, to keep abreast of the latest PCA happenings and to stay posted on new information.
This letter is an information bulletin, letting you know of certain developments with respect to our new home at 245 Renfrew Drive in Markham. Please note the following:
1. AP Courses: The High School principal, Mr. Broomer, has informed me that the groundwork has now been laid for the introduction of some AP courses for the coming school year. You may speak to him or to the Guidance Counsellor, Mrs. Lee, if you would like further information.
2. After School Programs: We anticipate that our High School will be offering the same extra-curricular programs such as Reach for the Top, Pro-life, athletics, drama, etc. as it does in this current year. Our Elementary School is planning to include current programs as well as develop greater diversity in its afterschool options. More will be said about that as we get closer to school opening.
3. Childcare: Due to the more northerly location of our new site, afternoon childcare will be extended to 6:15 pm for the convenience of those who work in downtown Toronto.
4. Bussing: For those of you who live in North York, we want to remind you that we will be providing a school bus service between Sheppard Avenue and the new school site. We anticipate that the round-trip cost per day will be $6.00. The bus will leave Sheppard Avenue at roughly 7:45 each morning and return around 4:15 pm. Childcare will be available at the Sheppard Avenue site as well.
5. Lunch Program: We are pleased to announce that hot lunches will be available to High School students Monday to Friday. Also, our hot lunch program will continue to be offered to our Elementary students for three or four days per week. The traditional “Pizza Day” will also be available each week.
6. Bursary Fund: We know of a number of families who are inquiring about supplemental funding to enable them to send their children to PCA. I don’t think we have ever asked you to help us in this way, but we’d like to give you the opportunity to contribute to our bursary fund. In doing so, you can participate in making it possible for a number of children to attend PCA who otherwise would not be able to do so. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this. Simply mark your cheque “bursary fund.”
Please continue to spread the word to family and friends that PCA is open for business in Markham!
