March 5, 2010 ISSUE # 3
Dear parents, Thanks to all the parents who participated in the prayer vigil on last Friday. Again as a reminder, God has His own timing, and we have to continue to pray for His will be done. Also please pray for safety for the students and teachers who are on their missionary trip to Senegal during this holiday period. Here's a sharing from a parent who sees how the teachers can help mould our children's characters. Testimony After my child and a couple of her classmates tried out for a school team and did not get selected, they were very disappointed. Later on, they were offered another chance for try out, but they all said, "No! That's mean!" At first I couldn't figure out why they would say that’s mean, shouldn’t it be great? So, I asked them and I'd learned a lesson from them. They didn’t want to try out and get selected and potentially bump out the ones that were selected first. It just wouldn’t be fair. I felt ashamed that I couldn't see that myself, but on the other hand am very thankful that these kids were able to handle unfavorable situations with consideration and integrity. In a non-Christian environment, where bullying and swearing are all over the place, and everyone only talks about "ME, ME, ME", what a blessing it is to see younger generation express love and care for one another even at their own expense. As parents, we all know how teachers can impact our children's life. Especially in these days when we have to fight so hard against the world to keep our children pure and righteous, we need our wonderful teachers to be their spiritual mentors. "…, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms". Eph 6:10-12 We all know that once the new school is up and running, enrollment should not be a problem. Markham is a growing city with booming population and school aged children. There are a few Christian schools in the area that are potential feeder schools to our high school. The break-even number of enrolled students for the new location is just over 500. Currently we are at 413. If we can fully utilize our new building and generate non-tuition related income, the break-even point will come down even more. We have already received more than 60 new applications and have another 70+ application forms picked up by new families during open house. Have you sent in your registration yet? Why wait? Did You Know? The grade 12 students are going to Mexico to build houses as their graduation trips. Don't we all want our children to learn how to serve? Have a safe and happy March break.
