Dear parents,

Here’s another touching story that further reinforces our belief in sending our children to PCA.

Testimony
Our son started school at Toronto French School, and in grade three, a teacher suggested us to get him some help with English and writing as his spelling was a mixture of French, English and German. In April 2006, we decided to move him to an English school.  We applied to PCA for grade 4 as well as another school.  Our son had always wanted to attend PCA when he learned that "Peoples" had a school. One month before school started and we still did not hear back from PCA, we went with the other school which he did very well. However, our son felt that he wasn’t learning much and he also missed the French Language which he had always excelled in. Two months after school started, we moved him back into a French School. That’s when all the problems started. He was bullied and was under great distress. He talked about running away and dying so he wouldn’t have to go to school.  This began to affect our family, and what we had believed about God. Where was He?  Why didn’t He respond to our prayers?  Did He care? We had no idea how environment could affect a person. With his confidence gone, his school grades also suffered. When we were thinking of having him repeat a grade, God’s answer finally came in March of 2009. Our son suggested that we apply to PCA again since he didn’t want to stay at the same school anymore. He was tested by PCA and was accepted with no need to repeat. Mr. Mansell and the staff took on this hurting child into the loving arms of the PCA family.  We are so blessed that God does not hold our questioning, doubting and fears against us but gently leads us onto the path that is straight and narrow for His glory.  All the staffs at PCA, the students, and the parents, are blessings to all. God does care. He is in our lives all the times, and His answer comes in His time. Our son is very happy now, and he shares stories about God and PCA to others all the time.

Bullying is so common these days among young people that sometimes it’s hard for parents to help them. However, do we want the world to mold our children? “Stand up for yourself!” “Defend your own rights!” “Care about your own self”. They make it sound like being tough and aggressive is the only way out.  Do we really want our children to learn these individualistic values, always talk about “Me, Me, Me”, or is it the fruits of the spirits that you want them to bear?

About 320 students have registered with PCA already. Thanks to all the parents for your faithful support. However, in true honesty, our target needs to be around the 350 mark. So if you are still thinking about it, we do need your continued support.

Parents, thank you so much for helping at the teachers and staff appreciation luncheon yesterday. As always, the food was great, the gifts were abundant. It is really the least we can do for them.

Did You Know

The in-house hot meal program for elementary school this year has been a great success. On average, there are close to 80 meals ordered every Tuesday. Mr. Chu has already expressed his willingness to continue to offer the hot meals next year. More information will be released early September once we finalize on the operational details of the two locations.
