HS Report Card Letter 2012-02
David Broomer | 2012-02-10
February 10, 2012
Dear Parents/Guardians, It is with gratitude, I thank the Lord for His many blessings in and around the school. I am pleased as I observe students attending to their studies and working together to achieve their best. This not only happens in the classroom, but through a myriad of activities including worship teams, Reach for the Top, Pro-Life Club, drama, and all of our sports teams that continue to excel. Reports Cards Please find enclosed your child’s report card for Term 2 (non-semester courses) and Semester 1 (final marks for semester courses). The semester 1 courses are now complete and new courses have started. In talking with a number of students, the blended schedule of semester and non-semester courses seems to have had a positive effect on the requirements for the students. It has “freed” up time, for both the students and teachers to focus on less subjects at a given time. Parent/Teacher Interviews Grade 7/8 Except for a few courses, the Grade 7/8 program does run on a non-semester basis. Although this set of interviews is open to all families, I would especially encourage parents/guardians of a child who is struggling to book an appointment to see a particular teacher. If your child is doing well, it may not be necessary for you to see the subject teacher. Grade 9-12 The interviews are for the non-semester courses only. If you would like to speak to a teacher regarding a semester 1 course it would be best to set up another time with that particular teacher. Every teacher’s e-mail is first initial followed by last name@pca.ca Important Notice for Booking Interviews Many of you would know that Mrs. Broomer is working in the office on a part-time basis. As the office can become quite busy, she will be taking interview requests by e-mail only. Her e-mail is sbroomer@pca.ca. In your e-mail please ensure you provide:
Appointment times: 10 minute intervals Thursday, February 16: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Important Reminder PCA HS Parent Night Update from the Principal and Guidance Counselor including Q & A session Date: Feb 23, 2012 (Thursday) Venue: Room 300 (Door# 4) Time: 7:30pm (refreshments start at 6:30 pm) Important Note Students have been notified that they are not to cross our neighbour’s property, but are to use the sidewalk along Renfrew Dr. Some students are ignoring this directive and are going around behind the buildings. I have received another complaint in this matter and will deal strongly with any student who chooses to continue this practice. I am expecting students to respect our neighbours in this matter. We have made several recent announcements so students have been made well aware of this issue. Re-registration Though the registration date was January 20 there are families we have not heard from. In order that we may plan more effectively, please let us know your intent for next year. A quick e-mail confirming your desire to come back, or if not, letting us know the reason behind your decision would be greatly appreciated (you may e-mail me on this matter). Thank you. Illness Recently there has been a rash of illness at the school. If your child is ill, please for the sake of the rest of the student body and staff, keep them home until they have recovered. Thank you for your consideration in this health related matter. Calendar Highlights
