Christmas is upon us and we extend to you our warmest greetings. May this Christmas be a special time for you and your family. It is with thankful hearts that we can again acknowledge the real reason for the season. To once again fully realize that Christ came for us and that He provides salvation for all those who would call on His name. May the Lord richly bless you and your family this Christmas.
On behalf of the staff I would like to thank you for your contributions toward the staff appreciation dinner. School is a very busy place and it was so nice to sit back and enjoy the fellowship and food provided. The gifts received were very much appreciated. Thank you to PAC for organizing this evening for our benefit. It is a highlight on the calendar.
Exams
Our exams were listed on the school year calendar beginning on January 24. Please find attached the exam schedule. As noted earlier, exams will be conducted in the semester courses only (Grades 9-12). Non-semester courses do not require exams at mid-year. Grades 7 and 8 will have exams as noted on the exam schedule. The exam schedule does not include room numbers. This information will be provided later.
Ministry of Education
On Wednesday, December 7 the high school was inspected by the Ministry of Education. An Education Officer conducted a review of our courses and record keeping, etc. The inspection is done in order that PCA be permitted to grant credits toward the OSSD. There was much preparation required and I am pleased to inform you that the preliminary report was very positive. An official letter from the Ministry will take several months to receive.
Sports
We continue to reap the rewards of dedicated and enthusiastic athletes who not only practice and play hard, but as important, do it with a Christ-like attitude. Our Grade 7/8 volleyball teams (both the girls and boys) came away with the championship at their respective ACSI tournaments. Well done! In addition, our senior boys’ volleyball team had a great season and came in second in the play-offs. Another super effort by all team members! Thank you to all the coaches.
Childcare Tax Receipt Information
A childcare tax receipt is available to families, providing the family meets the criteria for childcare services. This would apply to those students who used our childcare services last school year while they were in Grade 6. Forms are available at the office. Please have your child request the form from the office.
Last Day
As per the school calendar Friday, December 23 is the last day of school. Dismissal will be at 11:49 am. Please ensure that your child has a way home at that time.
Re-registration
Every family should have received a re-registration package. These were mailed last week. The school is looking forward to a positive response to the process while at the same time receiving applications from new families. In fact, I have already begun the process of accepting new family applications and enrolling students for next year. If you have any questions regarding next year please let us know.
For those at the high school level (Grades 9-12) our course selection will likely remain status quo depending on student interest for course selection. With the advances we made in the music area at the Grade 7/8 level I hope to see more opportunity at the high school in this area. Additional courses may be looked at in the area of drama as this was re-introduced at the Grade 9/10 during the current year. The school facilitated one AP course and we will continue to look at this programming in the coming years.
