Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2009/2010 school year! While we do have some summer left, we at PCA are busy getting things in place for the year ahead -- a significant year in that it will be our final year at the existing location, 374 Sheppard Avenue. We’re thankful that Peoples Ministries Inc. has agreed to lease the facilities to us for the entire school year eliminating the need to disrupt our program while the year is in progress.

Site Progress

The PCA Board of Directors has continued through the summer to lay the necessary groundwork for the development of the new school facility. They give us the following update:   

"Our architects have developed a site plan for 245 Renfrew Drive and applied for government approval of the site plan. They have also submitted an application for rezoning the site for school use. We expect to receive an approval towards the end of this year and start renovation in January 2010. Our architects have started working on a more detailed plan for the day care, which will be used to apply for a license to operate a day care ministry. They will also assist with the selection of a contractor for the renovation work.

To finance the renovation work, we have engaged a Christian organization called Commitment Ministries Inc. to launch a fund raising campaign. Their approach is to lead people through a spiritual journey by which we build up PCA as a faith community that nurtures the next generation in the Lord. Through this process, we will grow in our understanding of the importance of Christian education in God’s Kingdom, and learn to give prayerfully and sacrificially to support PCA."

We eagerly anticipate the collective participation of our PCA family as we embark on this venture together.

New Website

I’m pleased to bring to your attention the fact that we have launched a brand new website for PCA at http://www.pca.ca. The site, which serves both our Elementary and High School Divisions, is easy to navigate. In addition to providing extensive information about the philosophy and program of our school, it will become the main communication vehicle for current information through our "News and Events" feature. Take the time to visit the site and please let us know of ways that it may be improved to best serve you. 

In the midst of summer warmth I hesitate to mention this, but the website will be the place to go to find out about school closings in case of bad weather.  Notification will be given in the "News and Events" section of the home page.

Email Communication

Time and again we have found that important announcements for you, the PCA parent body, are not getting to the desired destination through the traditional means of hard copy.  For that reason we require your email address to ensure that vital information gets to you, and in a timely manner.  If we do not have a current email address for you, would you kindly make sure to include it on the File Update sheet which will be sent home to you when school begins. 

In closing, may I assure you that if you have questions or concerns that you’d like to express to me in person, I’m more than willing to meet with you. You may reach me through my Executive Assistant, Heather Bewley at extension 152 or by email: hbewley (at) pca (dot) ca. Our High School principal, Mrs. Cracknell and our Elementary principal, Mr. Mansell also give high priority to hearing your questions and comments firsthand. Please give careful attention to the information which your child’s principal is conveying to you in this mailing.

We are looking forward to a great year at PCA and we count on your full participation in the life of our PCA community. Above all we trust the Lord for His direction, His wisdom and His provision. Your continued prayers are highly valued as we prepare for the exciting days that lie ahead. Our complete trust is in Him.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen.  (Ephesians 3: 20, 21)
