Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) Update July 26, 2010

Dear PCA families, staff, alumni, and friends,
We have been advised that the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) may issue a decision on the appeal against the zoning approval of our Renfrew site in the next 1 to 3 weeks. The OMB member who presided over the hearing is preparing the written decision. We would like to invite you to join us in prayer. Pray that God's will be done and that we will submit to His guidance no matter what the decision is.
As we wait upon the Lord at this time, we need to prepare our heart to continue trusting in God, whether the decision comes out to be favourable or not. To this end, we would like to share with you this passage:
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.” (Habakkuk 3:17-19a)
The prophet Habakkuk was told that God will judge Judah through the Babylonian capture. He was waiting for God to bring about the desolation of his own country, and yet he trusted in God’s mercy to restore the nation. Habakkuk rejoiced in the Lord and the Sovereign Lord became his strength. In the past two years, the spiritual journey of PCA has not been an easy one, but the Lord has protected us and sustained us. By this, we know that God wants to continue this PCA ministry. By prayer, we can look beyond the OMB decision on the Renfrew zoning and see that God’s guiding hand is taking us forward every step of the way.
To prepare for the outcome of the OMB decision on Renfrew, the PCA Board has continued to look for probable alternative sites in case the decision comes out to be unfavourable. We have also continued to look for alternative ways of financing the purchase and renovation of the Renfrew site in the event the decision comes out to be favourable. At the same time, we are also working diligently on moving a portion of the elementary school from The Peoples Church to Willowdale Pentecostal Church. To reiterate, we are working in every way we can to ensure the continuation of PCA beyond the summer of 2011.
We know that ultimately the continuation of the PCA ministry is in God’s graceful hand. Let us keep praying so that we can be changed by God to become a more faithful people, committed to see the name of our Lord Jesus be exalted in PCA.
